The
Jaguar XF is the single most important car for the survival of Jaguar. The XF is also the first car in the plan to turn Jaguar from high-volume manufacturer to a low-volume exclusive premium luxury car manufacturer.
The Jaguar XF is a mid sized luxury sedan that replaces the S-Type in the Jaguar lineup, it debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and the first deliveries were made in March 2008.
The concept car
The car was first presented as the Jaguar C-XF (Concept XF) which is a somewhat exaggerated, stylized, big-footed, lowered version of the production XF. The concept actually only varies from the production XF in a few small areas mostly notable in the front area of the car.
The C-XF marked Jaguars departure from the notably retro influenced design strategy that drew inspiration from classic Jaguars from the 1960s. Notably in the design is that the car for the sake of usability has four doors but in shape looks very much like a coupe.
The production XF
According to Jaguar the following engines are available for the XF.
2.7 liter V6 Diesel
3.0 liter V6 Petrol
4.2 liter Naturally Aspirated V8 Petrol
4.2 liter Supercharged V8 Petrol
It's not a whole lot of options available but I guess it's enough for a car of this kind since most of the buyers are going to want a big engine and are not afraid of paying for them self.
