Speed Racer is an upcoming 2008 family movie based on the 1960s Japanese animated series by the same name. The movie is scheduled for a May 9, 2008 release.
Speed Racer is a young racer whose goal is to obtain glory by winning The Crucible, a race that took the life of his older brother Rex Racer. Speed is loyal to his family business and races the Mach 5, developed by his father. Speed is contacted by the rival company Royalton Industries and is offered a lucrative offer for him to race with them instead. When Speed rejects the offer Royalton Industries tries to ensure that Speed will not win any major race.
Refreshing to see a family movie not coming from Disney/Pixar and in May we will know how well they can compete.
