Superman: Doomsday is the movie adoption of the popular comic The Death of Superman, the movie will be released directly on DVD September 18th, 2007.
As with the Beowulf movie, Superman: Doomsday was first screened at Comic Con in San Diego on July 26th, 2007.
Synopsis
When the intergalactic serial killer Doomsday is unearthed, Superman meets the creature head on in the battle to end all battles. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever – making the ultimate sacrifice to save Metropolis and all those he once loved. The world collectively mourns their fallen hero and humanity realizes that it will never fell truly safe again. Even Lex Luthor grieves the loss of Superman in his own demented manner, as the death of Superman sets of chilling chain reactions that even Lex couldn't have foreseen.
Man, I don't know about this one. I've watched the Justic League and the most recent Superman cartoons, and I always thought that one, Superman was drawn silly. Two, he was made to look like an idiot. Three, the plots were always a little thin. I hope you guys pull this one out, but I'm skeptical.

I agree with you mikeboogie I loved the Justice League series, they better have some series action and graphics for this movie or I will be highly upset.

I think mikeboogie and nightcrawler are a bit close minded. I think it will be fine. As far as drawings are concerned. The original Superman series and the Justice league proved that simple drawings translate into higher quality animation. It moves well the emotion is solid and the stories were done well. I love almost everything they did on Batman, Superman, Batman beyond and the Justice league. Because it was on TV they had limitations. I can only imagine what they can do under these circumstances. Granted all of Marvel's ventures into the direct to dvd world weren't all stellar. But DC in the past years have had a better track record with animated projects.
I have faith they will do the story Justice.

..I love these series. The movie will be something to really wait for. I'm excited to see the action.
