The Eye is an upcomming 2008 movie remake of the 2002 Hong Kong film by the same name, the 2008 version stars Jessica Alba as the main character. The movie will premier on February 1, 2008 in the US.
Sydney Wells (Jessica Alba) is an accomplished concert violinist who has been blind since a childhood tragedy. Sydney undergoes a double corneal transplant, and her sight is restored. But Sydney's happiness is short-lived as unexplainable shadowy and frightening images start to haunt her. Are they a passing aftermath of her surgery, Sydney's mind adjusting to sight, a product of her imagination, or something horrifyingly real? As Sydney's family and friends begin to doubt her sanity, Sydney is soon convinced that her anonymous eye donor has somehow opened the door to a terrifying world only she can now see.
The Eye remake was originally a Paramount project and they had Renee Zellweger sheduled for the lead role but the project fell through and Lionsgate sweept it up and gave the lead to Jessica Alba which I personally think will be more convincing.

I realize all of you nerds get raging hard-ons whenever you see Jessica Alba, but she is a horrible actress. Fun to look at to be sure, but Zellweger is an Oscar winner, there is no chance this movie will be better with Alba.

jessica alba is good at what she does, but maybe it's a bit serious for her acting, but let's wait for the movie, before people who are illiterate make their raving reviews.

I've seen the Japanese version and it's very interesting. What's more interesting is that they actually used the same title. Blame it to Japanese grammar but the American version should have corrected it. It should be called "The Eyes".....she had both eyes replaced not just one (unless she's a cyclops in the movie)

Ummm, is it just me or doesn't think look exactly like the movie "Blink" starring Madeleine Stowe? That movie was released back in the early '90s; the lead was even a violin player. I smell a copy cat film.

theres an indian version to this too...it was pretty good..not terrifying but decent..it had it's suspense moments here an there..i think this verison isnt gonna be all that great

I watched the original Hong Kong version in subtitles - it was really scary even though I was reading the whole movie!
I recommend watching this version first. American movies are not as interesting or risqe!

These Remakes Need To Stop! They're Just Making The ORIGINAL Movies Look Bad. I Would've Preferred Renee Zellweger Rather Than Jessica Alba. Went to see it the other day. One of THE scariest movies I've ever seen. And I'm hard to scare. Jessica's acting was just fine. Nice plot and major good effects. Scared the pee out of me!

TO JBT on you comment last Jan. 19, 2008:: If you look into the story, the title "The Eye" refers to 'the third eye' the anonymous donor possessed and that Jessica's character eventually acquired. That is, the ability to see spirits and visions. It does not merely refer to the two eyes that were transplanted.

On Blink 1994 (Madeleine Stowe):: The story involves an actual serial killer and the coincidences surrounding others who have had transplants. On Eyes of Laura Mars 1978 (Faye Dunaway):: There is a mysterious link between a serial killer and Laura Mars as she is able to see through the eyes of the killer. On The Eye 2008:: The lead sees ghosts and spirits. She has a third eye. There is a striking similarity between Blink and The Eye but they deal on different planes of reality. Eyes of Laura Mars, although revolves around the eyes and sight, is more similar to the movie In Dreams 1999 (Anette Bening) where both leads have links with the killers but through different media.
