The Golden Compass is an upcoming 2007 movie based on the first novel in the triology His Dark Materials and will be released on December 7, 2007.
The Golden Compass synopsis
The Golden Compass tells the story of the young girl Lyra living at Jordan College in Oxfard in a parallel world where everyone is accompanied by a daemon, a physical representation of their soul in animal form.
When Lyra's best friend Roger (Ben Walker) vanishes, she swears she will travel to the end of the world to rescue him. The rumors is that the kidnapped children are being taken to an experimental station in the north to be subjected to unspeakable experiments.
When this happens Lord Asriel (Daniel Craig), Lyra's uncle is simultaneously setting out for the same region to harness the power of a phenomenon called called dust that is believed to reside where the Northern Lights play over the Arctic Circle. Even though desperate to accompany her uncle she is denied to join. Mrs. Coulter takes Lyra away from her life in Jordan and promising adventures in London and beyond.
On the morning of her departure The Master calls her urgently to his office where she is given the alethiometer a puzzling, ancient device that is said to tell the bearer only the truth. If she can only figure out how it works.
A great war is coming – one that threatens not only her world but all the parallel worlds waiting just beyond the northern lights – and Lyra will need all her skill, all her courage, to stop it.
The Golden Compass will without any doubt be the biggest epic movie of the holiday season and if I know people right it will a blockbuster.
