why did they built wall of china i found out The Great Wall of China is the longest structure built. Its length is 4,000 miles long. It's made of brick and stone and was built by hand.
Records say that Chinese built the Great Wall of China in about 600 B.C.
Through the years, The first whole piece took about ten years to build. The Great Wall of China was wide enough to fit ten soldiers side by side. The wall was built to keep invaders out. The Great Wall of China curves over thousands of hills.
Some men made bricks out of clay. Thousands of people were put to work on the wall. Men couldn't rest until they were finished building the wall. Some men tried to escape, but if they did they would be buried alive.
Much of the Great Wall of China still stands today.
