Back in 2001, the German group Chaos Computer Club made a computer display out of a building at Alexanderplatz, Berlin. The display consisted of 144 lamps arranged as 18 x 8 pixels. It allowed the general public to play pong live on the gigantic screen using their cellphones, or display loveletters. When idle, the system displayed numerous animations contributed by people from all over the world. The display was live for almost 24 weeks, as it shut down in February 23rd, 2002.
