Christmas Island is a small island which belongs to Australia and it's located in the Indian Ocean. The island is inhabited by 1,600 people and 120,000,000 red crabs and much of the island have been declared National Park to preserve the little read creatures.
Each year in the start of the wet season all the crabs migrate from the forest to the sea spawn. This migration have been called one wonders of the natural world, the wet season starts around November. Each of the spawning females give of 150,000 new red crabs which later make their way back to the forest.
As you can see in the video the Christmas Island is pretty much covered in crabs in November I can see why the island got the name it have today.
