Google Android Platform Demo Video

Despite the stubborn rumors of Google launching a GPhone all the tech blogs was wrong and as google said themselves they have made something a lot more ambitious.

The GPhone turned into the Open Handset Alliance and the Android platform. The Open Handset Alliance is most remarkable because former enemies like Motorolla, Samsung, LG, HTC and others have joined forces to stand up against Nokia and also Microsoft that will likely loose money when the Android handsets will take a piece of the market from Windows Mobile. The Android platform is a revolution when it comes to developing applications for mobile phones since all applications should work on all phones powered by the Android platform and application developers will be given much larger freedom in accessing and replacing the inner mechanics of the phones operating system.

In this video you see a presentation of the Google Android platform that highlights some of the capabilities of the platform and what the phone bases on the platform will be capable of. But as is pointed out in the end of the video the best applications are yet not invented and it's you or anyone with programming knowledge that can create the next killer application. To motivate development Google have announced the Android Developer Challenge where they will be giving away a total of $10 million in awards to the best applications.

The first Androids phones will be here in the middle of 2008 and I guess the interest will be massive and I'm sure to get one of the first phones. Anyone excited about getting a Google phone?
