This must be the most upsetting video in the How it's made series, not even in my wildest imagination could I have believed this was the way chicks was brought to the world and treated. As you can see in this video the chicks are treated like any other manufactured good, not what we call a respective way of treating living animals.
Perhaps not what you want to see but it's a good thing knowing how things are made and perhaps switch over to locally produced egg and chicken, preferable organic.
What a total lack of compassion and humanity that is required in order to run these sorts of shops. To treat life and living creatures as nothing more than a product.

I'll never look at an egg the same way again. That was horrendously cruel to those little chicks. They are living things! I can't believe the workers just throw the chicks around like they're some kind of inanimate object!

Eh, perhaps they are not what you would call the most humane, but it could be much worse, and it is in some areas. You should be grateful that they aren't hurt by this and there only a couple of stressful hours after they hatch.

You live in a City, don't you and never been introduced to were your food came from?
So, they are kept to lay egs, then after egg production runs out, they are killed and made into chicken soup!
Organic Egg production is not all you think it is Cracked up to be! Certain """Organic""" Egg production farms have a small area that is basically Bare Dirt, the chickens are left out for a certain amount of time in a day and then put back in to lay eggs, they end up the same as the chickens in the big Egg production farms. After they are so old, they end up being used for Food!
Get over it, unless you want to buy chickens and then grow them in your back yard for eggs and let them die a natural death, but be prepared to feed them even after they stop laying eggs!

As far as how the hatcheries do the chicks, I buy chicks each year to have to raise for eating and eggs. I buy a certain amount of meat chicks to raise to eat and then buy a certain amount of chicks for egg laying.
When those chicks that are bought for egg laying start to lay only 1 egg every 3-5 days, they end up in a big kettle of chicken corn soup in the fall!
Those hatcheries are BIG, HUGE, MEGA, they do not set there and pick egg shells out of the hatching trays and then transfer the chicks!
Chicks do not get hurt by what is going on! If they did, they would not be operating those hateries like they do! Those Hatcheries are in it for Money, if they were ending up with dead chicks from seperating them from the shells and then seperating them like they do when sexing, they would not be doing it that way!

Imagine, there has been hundreds of human DNA taken from Earth since long ago. They, the aliens use the DNA to clone human babies. There are millions or even billions of birth tubes rotated by machines. Each one having a baby of mostly the same DNA. Because it is of the most modified and successful genes.
